InterContinental Halong Bay Resort

InterContinental Halong Bay Resort, now open in the exclusive Ha Long Marina Urban Area, has unveiled its purpose-built event spaces, equipped with advanced audio-visual systems and powered by interactive meetings technology. Serving as a central hub, the Meetings Centre offers omnidirectional microphones, a Logitech video-conference camera, four expansive LCD screens, and customisable LED lighting, designed to support more immersive events.

[1]As the Asia-Pacific MICE industry accelerates—valued at USD 212.83 billion in 2025 and projected to reach USD 328.97 billion by 2030, with an annual growth rate of 9.10%—Vietnam has emerged as one of the region's most compelling destinations for business events. The country's MICE sector is forecast to grow to USD 7.28 billion by 2025 and to USD 9.76 billion by 2030, driven by government investment, improved infrastructure, and increasing global connectivity.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its natural beauty, InterContinental Halong Bay Resort is designed to meet the growing demand for MICE and corporate travel in the region. The resort offers a comprehensive range of venues, accommodating everything from international conferences to intimate board meetings, complemented by a tailored programme of immersive cultural experiences.

“Vietnam is rapidly emerging as a leading MICE destination, supported by enhanced connectivity, expanding international flight networks and streamlined e‑visa procedures making it easier for global organisations to plan and deliver events,” said Jesper Bach Larsen, General Manager, InterContinental Halong Bay Resort. “Our dedicated venues and flexible spaces allow planners to deliver seamless meetings and at the gateway to Ha Long City, we offer culturally rich, immersive experiences that redefine what luxury incentives and corporate travel can truly mean.”

The resort's approach to incentives focuses on authenticity and immersion. Tailored excursions offer delegates rare access to local life in Ha Long Bay—whether sailing through limestone karsts on a private cruise, visiting floating fishing villages such as Vung Vieng and Cua Van, or taking behind-the-scenes tours at the Ha Long Pearl Farm. These experiences allow delegates and incentive travellers to connect with the culture and people of the region, reflecting the broader shift towards purpose-led business travel.

As part of IHG's Meetings for Good initiative, InterContinental Halong Bay Resort supports planners in delivering more sustainable event experiences through responsible practices embedded across the property. A digital-first approach helps reduce waste, with collateral replacing printed materials and digital signage used for wayfinding, eliminating the need for paper or foam boards. Single-use plastics are avoided wherever possible, with filtered water offered in pitchers, bottled glassware, or at refill stations throughout the meeting spaces. Energy consumption is minimised through reduced HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) and lighting policies during set-up, tear-down, event breaks, and overnight downtime. The resort also provides reusable service ware to reduce reliance on disposables. Together, these initiatives reflect the resort's commitment to shaping the future of responsible travel—aligned with IHG's True Hospitality for Good purpose and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Event spaces at InterContinental Halong Bay Resort include the Tonkin Grand Ballroom, a pillarless, state-of-the-art space accommodating up to 1,050 guests theatre-style, 810 for receptions, or 680 for banquets. The Cat Ba Ballroom, located on the 6th floor, is framed by floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light and can accommodate up to 252 guests theatre-style or 160 for banquets.

A range of smaller spaces including the Cong Tay Room, Ngoc Vung Room, Chairman's Boardroom and a VIP Lounge offer flexible layouts for board meetings, breakout sessions or private dining. For outdoor events, the resort features a landscaped garden for up to 380 guests and a panoramic terrace accommodating up to 390, both offering distinctive al fresco settings.

Alongside its meeting spaces, InterContinental Halong Bay Resort blends productivity and wellbeing, ensuring that guests can transition effortlessly between work and relaxation. Facilities and services include 174 guestrooms and suites, many with panoramic bay views, 60 residences and 41 private villas for extended stays, digital nomads and long-stay executives or incentive groups. A bespoke wellness programme offers jet-lag recovery and stress relief therapies in collaboration with Margaret Dabbs London and Sodashi at the signature Hidden Lagoon Spa, as well as complimentary access to Timeshifter, a circadian science app that helps international travellers optimise their energy and overcome jet lag.

Resort amenities include three outdoor pools, the family-friendly Planet Trekkers kids' club, The Game Room which features a cinema, and beach activities such as volleyball and archery, as well as six eclectic dining venues that take guests on a culinary journey of regional and international flavours.

InterContinental Halong Bay Resort is conveniently located just two hours from Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport, offering purpose-built facilities for meetings and events set against the dramatic natural beauty of UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay, with tailored incentives and bleisure opportunities for corporate travellers.
