Brisbane, Australia – 10th October 2025 -- Spicers Retreats has joined an elite group of properties worldwide to be recognised in The MICHELIN Guide's first-ever Hotel Key Awards - a new global benchmark celebrating the most exceptional hotel experiences across more than 100 countries.
Spicers Retreats all-inclusive properties, Spicers Peak Lodge (QLD) and Spicers Sangoma Retreat (NSW) were among just 35 Australian hotels to receive this coveted distinction, reinforcing the brand's commitment to delivering immersive, high-touch experiences in some of the country's most spectacular natural settings.
The MICHELIN Key Awards, launched in 2025, are the hospitality equivalent of MICHELIN Stars for restaurants. They honour hotels that deliver extraordinary stays based on five universal criteria: architecture and design, service excellence, personality and character, value for price, and connection to the local experience.
Tash Tobias, CEO of Salter Brothers Hospitality and operator of Spicers Retreats, said, “Being recognised by the MICHELIN Guide in its inaugural Hotel Key Awards is a profound honour for Spicers Retreats. This accolade is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our teams, whose passion for delivering deeply personal and immersive guest experiences is at the heart of everything we do. At Spicers, we believe that true luxury lies in authenticity, connection, and care—and we are proud to see our all-inclusive retreats celebrated on a global stage for embodying these values.”
Spicers Retreats inclusion in the MICHELIN Guide's global hotel selection places it among the world's most outstanding hotels alongside iconic destinations in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Spicers Peak Lodge in Maryvale, QLD was awarded Two Keys, earning MICHELIN recognition for its ability to translate the beauty of the surrounding wilderness into its refined interiors while Spicers Sangoma Retreat at the foothills of the Blue Mountains in NSW, was also awarded Two MICHELIN Keys, receiving honours for its opulent suites, immersive bushland setting and world-class seclusion. Further recognition for Spicers Retreats saw Spicers Tamarind Retreat (Maleny, QLD), Spicers Balfour Hotel (Brisbane, QLD) and Spicers Potts Point (Sydney, NSW) included in the guide as MICHELIN favourites.
