Koh Samui, Thailand, December 2025: Centara Reserve Samui recently marked the beginning of the festive season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, where timeless holiday magic was thoughtfully intertwined with a meaningful message of mindful giving and sustainability.
Held on 12th December 2025, the evening welcomed guests to a warm and elegant celebration enriched with live music, festive cheer, and a shared commitment to caring for the planet.
At the heart of this year's celebration stood a striking Christmas tree crafted from more than 16,000 used coffee capsules, thoughtfully collected throughout the year. The installation served as both an artistic centrepiece and a powerful reflection of the resort's ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility - transforming everyday materials into something meaningful, beautiful, and purposeful.
Extending this commitment beyond the tree itself, guests attending Centara Reserve Samui's festive celebrations received a thoughtful gift of dehydrated coffee grounds. Naturally deodorising and rich in nutrients for plants, the repurposed grounds symbolised the resort's approach to reducing waste while reimagining how simple materials can be given new life.
Neil Li, Corporate Director of Operations – Centara Reserve & The Centara Collection, and General Manager at Centara Reserve Samui, shared the significance behind the initiative:
“Every year, we use our Christmas tree as more than a festive symbol. It is our opportunity to share a message that truly matters. Sustainability is not something we speak about once a year - it is something we live and practice every single day, through the choices we make and the responsibility we carry.
We do this because we believe in protecting and preserving a better planet, not only for ourselves, but for our children and for generations to come.”
The ceremony took place at the resort's Main Staircase from 18:00 to 19:00 hrs., accompanied by complimentary mulled wine and light bites, along with live music by a duo of guitarists, creating an atmosphere of warmth, connection, and shared celebration.
The celebration opened with a festive countdown and the lighting of the Christmas tree, as guests gathered to welcome the season with the message: “Merry Christmas, and welcome to the festive season at Centara Reserve Samui.”
Rooted in thoughtful hospitality and conscious living, the ceremony reflected Centara Reserve Samui's belief that the most memorable festive moments are those that bring people together - while caring for the world we share.
